What is a Wheaten Terrier?

The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier (to give it its full name) is a medium sized dog from Ireland. Originally bred as a working farm dog, The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier of Great Britain Club notes that “the Spartan conditions under which the ancestors of the Soft-Coated Wheaten lived have made this a hardy breed.”
