What is a Jackapoo?

A Jackapoo is a cross between a Jack Russell and a Poodle. As with all Poodle mixes, Jackapoos fur is more hypoallergenic than other breeds. Medium in size, the Jackapoo can come in a wide variety of colours including black, black and white, brown, golden and grey. These adorable crossbreeds are also sometimes called Jackadoodles!

How much exercise does a Jackapoo need?

Jackapoos are a fairly active breed so will need daily exercise of at least an hour. They are also very playful dogs, so make sure to factor in lots of playtime. They excel at flyball and it’s a great way for them to get stimulated and burn some energy.

What is the temperament of a Jackapoo?

As well as being happy and energetic dogs, Jackapoos are also gentle, loyal and affectionate, which makes them great family dogs. They get on well with children and other dogs.

Her greetings are a delight, as with a wriggle of her behind she shows how pleased she is to see you. She brightens up my day and is sure to bring a smile to all who meet her.” - Karen, Owner of Bella

Are Jackapoos easy to train?

Thanks to both Jack Russells and Poodles being intelligent dogs, Jackapoos tend to be smart cookies. Beware though, their Terrier half might make them a little stubborn at times, but strict and consistent training or obedience classes will garner great results and a happy pooch.

“Bibi is amazing! She loves everyone she meets and is a pleasure to be around. She is only a puppy, but is responding well to training and is great off the lead as long as you have treats with you!” - Gemma, Owner of Bibi

That being said, here are a few funny quirks that some of our members’ pooches have:

Rhiannon, Owner of Donnie:

"Donnie is one of the most charismatic and gentle dogs you will ever meet. The most danger she poses is licking someone to death..."

Sandra, Owner of Barney:

“His party trick is walking on his back legs, which being quite small he often does when he wants to see over things.”
