Dog Friendly Shops

5 October 2023

Most of us enjoy a little retail therapy every now and again. But for those that own or borrow a dog this isn't always easy. There can be plenty of times when we want to quickly jump into our local shop but our pooch pal isn't welcome. Or times when you want to do a bit more of a shop and worry about leaving your pup to home for too long. Often this is where having a pawsome, trusted, local borrower comes in, and you can enjoy your shopping time knowing your pooch is having fun and is in safe hands.

But sometimes we can take our pups with us, with more and more high street shops becoming dog friendly. So we’ve pulled together a list of a few so Fido can help you pick your new purchases!

John Lewis

John Lewis have recently announced their stores are now dog friendly, if they're well behaved of course. So your pooch can now help you navigate the fashions, homewares and electricals of your local department store.

White Stuff

White Stuff love pets and encourage owners to bring their dogs in to their shops. So when you're picking up your next dog walking outfit, your pooch can give their expawrt opinion.

Starbucks

Some Starbucks locations are dog-friendly, but not all, so be sure to check before you head along with your doggo in tow. We all deserve a pick me up and so does your favourite four-legged friend, so why not grab a coffee for you and a Puppuccino for them.

Oliver Bonas

Who doesn’t love a gift from Oliver Bonas, and what better way to choose one than with a doggy accompanying you. They also have a rather pawsome doggy range in stores, to treat your shopping companion too.

Waterstones

Looking for a new book to read? Head to your closest Waterstones with your pooch to discover a new novel.

Mountain Warehouse

Mountain Warehouse is a great place to get stocked up on your latest dog-walking threads, but did you know your dog is welcome to join you on your shopping trip? They have a range of dog products too, so your pooch won't feel left out.

Cath Kidston

The brand known for their fabulous prints (including doggy ones!) has got even better now that their stores are dog friendly. Head to your closest shop to discover treats for you and your floof.

Apple

Most Apple stores are happy for well-behaved pups to visit, so whether you're visiting the geniuses or browsing for a new phone, take your dog with you.

Burberry

Time to pick a new scarf or fancy trench? Bring your pooch along to give you their thoughts on your new purchase.

Lush

Lush cosmetics love animals, are known for their cruelty free products, and will welcome your doggy with open arms. Some of the products smell good enough to eat though, so be sure to keep an eye on curious pups in this dog-friendly store.

Liberty

With over five floors Liberty London should be your go-to department store, and especially as they’re dog friendly.

Fenwicks

Another brilliant department store that welcomes your favourite dog in, so grab your well-behaved pooch and get shopping.

Anthropologie

Fashion and dog lovers alike will be happy that Anthropologie is also dog friendly.

Selfridges (handbag dogs only)

Dogs are indeed welcome in Selfridges but they must be carried or popped into a bag. Sadly Great Dane and Labrador owners may have to give this one miss.

Sweaty Betty

All Sweaty Betty shops welcome humans as well as their furry friends to try out their fabulous apparel, pawfect for your next walkies!

Always ask shop staff if they’re dog friendly before popping in, as we wouldn’t want to step on anyone’s paws. And who knows one of your favourite shops, including loads of local independents, might turn out to be dog friendly! So start drafting that shopping list, and remember to bring your owned or borrowed dog with you.
