Waggy Tales - Owner Rebecca and Daisy, St Albans

Waggy Tales - Owner Rebecca and Daisy, St Albans

Last week we spoke about sharing with all of you some of the lovely stories we hear from members of BorrowMyDoggy. So, today we’d like to bring to you the story of Rebecca, proud mother of Daisy the Puggle, and how she found a helping paw to take care of her beloved pooch.

My husband and I were looking for someone, very last minute, to look after Daisy for the day as we were going into London and couldn’t bring her with us. We came across BorrowMyDoggy when we were searching for a solution and registered just two days before we were due to go away. What’s nice about BorrowMyDoggy is that the borrowers who are signed up aren’t doing it for money, they’re doing it for their love of dogs.

I saw Dawn’s profile as soon as we signed up as she was Daisy’s first match on BorrowMyDoggy. I immediately warmed to Dawn as she had such a great profile - she works at the Royal Veterinary Hospital and had previously volunteered at the RSPCA and the National Animal Welfare Trust. It was clear that she really cared about dogs, so I messaged her explaining our situation.

We met with Dawn the very next day for our Welcome Woof, the first meet and greet session, and instantly knew that we would get on - Daisy literally launched herself at Dawn on first meeting! It was obvious how much Dawn cared about dogs and she got along really well with Daisy. We chatted about lots of different things to get to know each other - what we were looking for, Dawn’s background and experience.

Dawn looked after Daisy the following day whilst we were out. Although I felt slightly nervous, in the same way you would feel leaving your baby with a babysitter for the first time, Dawn texted back and forth with me all day so I had peace of mind that Daisy was being well looked after and in good hands.

You are putting a lot of trust in the person you leave your dog with and, of course, I was very conscientious that we didn’t leave Daisy with just anyone. My husband and I are really happy with everything and we’ve since been back in touch with Dawn to arrange more playdates for Daisy.
