Waggy Tales - Owner Andrea and Poppy, Brighton

Our latest Waggy Tale is from owner Andrea and her lovely pooch, Poppy. Andrea joined BorrowMyDoggy to find Poppy some extra walks, and matched with a pawsome borrower who lives on the same road as she does. Poppy’s new local friend regularly takes her out for walks, and Andrea describes him as being “sent from heaven.” Here’s their lovely story:

High paws! Tell us about your BorrowMyDoggy experience...

I’ve met about five people on BorrowMyDoggy so far. One of my matches lives on my road, about four doors away! He’s always stopped to chat to Poppy in the past so when I signed up and saw his profile on BorrowMyDoggy, I messaged him straight away. The first time he took her out she had a wonderful time and was so tired when she got back. He’s brilliant. He texts me and asks to take her out, since we met he’s taken her out almost every day. He’s sent from heaven.

How is Poppy getting on with her new pals?

Poppy adores her new friend and he’s so good with her. He loves walking, but can’t have a dog because his rented accommodation doesn’t allow them. He’s really taken to her and she has to him too. He’s even bought her a big squeaky toy. When he takes her out, she’s straight by his side. It’s fantastic. She goes mad when he walks past the house!

How was your ‘Welcome Woof’?

I emailed a couple of borrowers and they got back to me straight away. We messaged back and forth before arranging to meet at our local park. The fact that all addresses and telephone numbers are checked by BorrowMyDoggy really impressed me. It was lovely, I was really impressed and felt very comfortable. Every single borrower I met with understood the importance of getting to know each other. BorrowMyDoggy really is all the pleasure and none of the cost.

Why did you sign up to BorrowMyDoggy?

We got our dog, Poppy before our son was born and as he got older we were finding it more and more difficult to find time to walk her. When I saw someone post something about BorrowMyDoggy on Facebook, I thought I’d give it a go. We signed up so Poppy could get more exercise and meet other people and we were looking for somebody Poppy would like and who would like her. It was a way for her to get some good walks and for someone to get the pleasure of walking a dog. I couldn’t have a dog for years as I was in rented accommodation so BorrowMyDoggy would have been perfect for me then. It’s amazing. I’m absolutely over the moon.

You should definitely sign up, it’s worth every penny.
