Waggy Tales - Borrower Samantha, Manchester

Waggy Tales - Borrower Samantha, Manchester

When we say “connecting local dog lovers”, we absowoofly mean it. Borrower Samantha matched with Reggie the French Bulldog, who lives just around the corner from her house - high paws! She now takes care of him once a week as well as when she simply wants some doggy time. Here’s their wagulous Waggy Tale :)

Why did you sign up to BorrowMyDoggy?

I’ve had a dog all my life and now, living in the city, I miss having a dog around as mine is at home with my parents. I’d love to have one of my own, however I’m out of the house a little too long during the day so it wouldn’t be fair. Someone tagged me in a BorrowMyDoggy post on Facebook and I thought I’m definitely doing that! It’s amazing.

High paws! Tell us a bit more about your BorrowMyDoggy experience...

After I’d signed up, I received a message from Haylee, a local owner of an adorable French Bulldog called Reggie. I verified my account straight away and we started messaging. Haylee was really sweet and it turned out that I live just round the corner from her, less than a five minute walk away. After a few days of messaging through the site we decided to arrange to meet up for a ‘Welcome Woof’.

How was your ‘Welcome Woof’?

It was really easy. We met in between our two homes and went for a walk along the canal. It was great as we got on really well. I also made sure that they came over to my flat so Haylee could see where I live and see that it was suitable for Reggie as I have a big garden. I went over to their place to visit beforehand too.

How are you getting on with your new furry pal?

Reggie is amazing. Now when I go over to their house and call the intercom he recognises my voice and gets excited! When I left the other night, he sat at the door watching me till I was out of sight. BorrowMyDoggy is such a good idea. If I could have a dog of my own, I would get a French Bulldog so it’s perfect for me. People always stop to talk to me when I’m out with Reggie.

Since we met, I’ve been looking after him once a week. I have him for a full day next week and can’t wait. I can text Haylee whenever to ask if Reggie is free and she lets me know when I can take him out. She’s really sweet and we text all the time.

What's the one thing you would tell other potential borrowers about BorrowMyDoggy?

It’s really important to meet up at least a couple of times and see how you get on with them and their dog as trust is key.
