Best dog walks in Aberdeen

Duthie Park
Donated in 1880 by Miss. Duthie and opened to the public in 1883, Duthie Park is a great place to visit with your furry friend. In addition to a bandstand, fountains, statues and ponds around the park, you and your dog can have a walk around the Winter Gardens, which were restored in 1970.
The Winter Gardens are home to Britain’s largest collection of cacti and many other exotic plants. After walking your dog around the park and the gardens, you can stop for a refreshment at the cafe within the Winter Gardens.

Hazlehead Park
Over 400 acres of beautiful woodland and parkland can be found on the outskirts of Aberdeen at Hazlehead Park. It’s a wonderful place to walk your dog and enjoy the park’s colourful gardens, sculptures and maze. Whether you want to explore the woods or have a run around the park, you and your dog are sure to enjoy your day out together.
Hazlehead Park is also home to Hazlehead Pets Corner where you can see a range of different animals including rabbits, chinchillas, miniature donkeys, tropical fish, ducks and peacocks.

Westburn Park
This expansive park has loads of open space for your dog to roam. Part of the local stream, Gilcomston Burn, runs through Westburn Park. Plenty of benches are around the park’s ponds, so if you and your dog need a rest, you can relax and enjoy the scenery together. On the other hand, if you’re looking to extend your day out but want a change of scene, Victoria Park is just opposite the road.
Westburn Park also boasts an indoor tennis centre, four outdoor tennis courts, a football field, and a grass bowls green.

Seaton Park
It’s no wonder the local council refers to Seaton Park as a “much-loved treasure” with its gorgeous floral display at Cathedral Walk. It’s also home to the walled garden, which is perfect if you fancy a more secluded, quiet spot during your dog walk where you can enjoy a range of flowers and plants.
You and your pup can also check out the River Don at the western side of the park. The riverside walk will lead you to one of Aberdeen’s attractions, the historic Brig o’Balgownie, and if you continue on, it leads to the North Sea.

Aberdeen Beach/Queens Links
There is loads to keep you busy at this extremely pupular recreational area in Aberdeen. Whatever the season, you and your dog can have a wonderful walk at this award-winning beach. Every year since 2007, Aberdeen Beach has received the Resort Seaside Award, which recognizes excellent litter management, safety, and water quality. Do bear in mind there is a dog exclusion zone at a section of the sea short.
According to the local council, “ the area is well provided with sporting and recreational facilities, including the Beach Leisure Centre and the Linx Ice Arena, cafes, restaurants and a fun fair.” A cinema and a retail park (which includes a fitness gym) have also recently been added.

Balmedie Beach
If you’re a dog walker, you’ll probably want to visit Balmedie Beach. No matter the weather, the expanse of open space and gorgeous sand dunes make for a lovely afternoon walk, and there are 5 different routes varying in distance to choose from. You can also hire a beach barbecue in the Summer months or head to the nearby dog-friendly pub for lunch.

Kirkhall Forest
If you borrow a dog in Aberdeen why not take a trip to Kirkhall Forest. You can spend a few hours exploring the beautiful trail around the large forest area. There is a view tower at the top of the trail so you can admire the stunning views. Your dog, borrowed or owned, will truly enjoy it.
