What our members say

"Bo used to have a dog walker while we were at work, but now she has lots more love and attention thanks to a family we met through BorrowMyDoggy. Often Jayne and her children take her out for the whole day. I'm jealous when I get pictures of them running in the sun on the beach while I'm at work. When we went on holiday, the family took Bo for a couple of nights, which saved us the money we would have paid for kennels." Bo's owner, Nancy

“I was stuck in a rut and really didn't want to go out. I love animals and I knew they were a great way to motivate me to get me out and about, so I joined BorrowMyDoggy. I now walk Charlie, which means not only am I getting exercise, but he makes me smile - to see him so excited when I go round just makes my day. I feel like I’ve done something good by borrowing him, which in turn makes me feel good about myself.” Charlie’s borrower, Tracy

Dog Walking in Liverpool

There are plenty of places for dog walks in Liverpool and we have included some of our favourites here to explore:

Humans and doggy pals alike love a day out by the sea and only a short drive away is Crosby. You can walk a dog along the sandy Blundellsands Beach and take in the famous installation ‘Another Place’ by British sculptor Antony Gormley. Watch the tide go out and reveal 100 cast-iron figures stretched along 1km of expansive coastline.

Whether you are local or from further afield, you must go for a stroll in Sefton Park. Dog walks in this Green Flag awarded open space are made special by the Grade II listed Palm House. In the park you will also find a Neverland statue, a replica of the Peter Pan statue found in Kensington Gardens, London. You will also find yet another Beatles reference in the park, as the Victorian Bandstand allegedly influenced the Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

If you’re new to Liverpool how about doing your own mini walking tour! If you want to soak up some Beatles spirit wander down to Stanley Street and have your photo taken with “Eleanor Rigby”. Bonus points if you can get your dog sitting on the bench to pose! If you want to continue with the Beatles theme you can visit the Fab Four’s very own statue tribute on Liverpool’s waterfront. While there, why not wave at the people making their journey on a ‘Ferry ‘Cross The Mersey’ and try not to get the well-known song by Gerry & The Pacemakers stuck in your head!

Next you could head to Formby National Park which takes around 40 minutes by car or train from Liverpool city centre. Take a chance to spot a rare red squirrels in this doggy friendly pine woodland, although, when in the squirrel area you must keep the dog you are walking on a lead. There are some doggy-friendly picnic locations so it is the perfect excuse to bring the picnic hamper.
