Best dog walks in Somerset
29 March 2023If you are a keen dog walker in Somerset and want to find some places to explore with your furry friend, here are some of our recommendations.
Black Down, Burrington
Black Down is the highest hill in the south-western England. If you and your pup are up for a challenge, climb to the top to see views of the picturesque countryside. With both off lead and on lead areas, your pup will definitely come home tired and ready for a long nap.
Cheddar Reservoir and Gorge
If your four-legged friend is a keen swimmer, this reservoir is the perfect place to walk a dog in Somerset, and comes highly recommended by the locals. When walking around the gorge, it is recommended to keep dogs on leads because of the cliff edge but it is worth it for the stunning views. It is a fairly long and hilly walk, so come prepared with a picnic in the dedicated spots to refuel.
Brean Beach
Who doesn’t love a beach walk! With plenty of space for your four legged friend to run around, your pup will be very happy. Be sure to bring a ball to throw into the sea for games of fetch and encouragement to cool off on a summer's day. Refreshments are available if you decide to make a day of it.
Ham Hill Country Park
This country park is well known in the area with dog owners, it’s worth a visit. With plenty of fenced off fields, its the perfect place for them to run around with other dogs and for endless games of fetch. There is also a nearby dog friendly pub to pop into after.
