Forge Dam

Whether you have an an active dog, keen for a long walk or you just fancy a short stroll with your pup, this scenic expanse provides a great opportunity for woodland walkies. Highlights include the ability to meet ducks, and some wagtastic paddling spots, perfect for any keen swimmers!

Norfolk Heritage Park

Just one mile south east of Sheffield city centre lies Norfolk Heritage Park - one of the oldest public parks in the country. The park covers almost 75 acres of land and is a Green Flag Award winning site. A multi million pound restoration project from 1999 - 2005 regenerated the landscape and restored it to its original Victorian character.

Despite its proximity to the city, the park has the feel of a country estate so you and your dog won’t have to travel too far for a rural experience! Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the 5 Grade II Listed buildings and structures in the park.

Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve

The Shire Brook Valley contains over 100 hectares of land protected for Nature Conservation and recreation. It is situated in the south east of the city and contains a mixture of brooks, meadows, woodlands and ponds for you and your dog to enjoy.

There are four pre-planned walks that you can take, that vary in length from 30 mins to 2 hours, depending on what you and your doggy are up for!

Graves Park

Located in the south west of the city, Graves Park is Sheffield’s largest park covering 206 acres of land. The park is surrounded by woodland and there is a stream that runs through the middle. Graves Park has four main areas of parkland, Norton Park, Deer Park, Old Park and North Croft and three woods Cobnar Wood, Waterfall Wood and Summerhouse Wood.

There are several paths that lead through the woodland linking the different areas of the park which your four legged friend will no doubt enjoy exploring with you.

Endcliffe Park

Endcliffe Park is 15 hectares of land in the south west corner of Sheffield. Listed on English Heritage's National Register of Historic Parks & Gardens, Endcliffe Park has both parkland and woodland to enjoy, as well as two ponds.

The park was opened in 1887 to commemorate the Jubilee of Queen Victoria and, as such, you can see two monuments in the park dedicated to the Queen - a statue and an obelisk. There is a cafe in the park so you can take a break and watch the world go by (with a scone, of course!)

Meersbrook Park

Large amounts of mature woodland make up Meersbrook Park, a 17 hectare area about 4 km south of the city centre. If you’re looking for great views over the city, then head to Meersbrook Park, which is a Green Flag Award winning site.

The park is set on a steep hillside and is home to two historic buildings - Bishops' House (one of the oldest buildings in Sheffield) and Meersbrook House. Woodland walks and stunning panoramic views make this park a must see on a sunny day.

Ecclesail Woods

This popular walk has plenty of woodland to explore, with many different paths and trails to follow. If you enjoy quiet, nature filled dog walks in Sheffield, this is the perfect choice for you and your pup.
