Where can I walk my dog in Brighton? If you’re looking to borrow a dog in Brighton or just scoping out places with the best doggy vibes to take your pooch, we’ve sourced out a few of our favourite outdoor treats.

Preston Park

Preston Park is the largest urban park in the city and is home to the 'Preston Twins' - widely considered the largest and oldest Elm trees in the world. There are two cafes in the park, both of which are dog-friendly so you and your pooch can have a seat and a drink and watch the world go by.

Offering 63 acres of parkland in the heart of the city, Preston Park is a regular winner of the Green Flag Award, which is given to quality parks and open spaces. There is lots to keep you and your doggy friend entertained at just a stone’s throw away from the city centre.

Situated on the outskirts of the city, the council notes that “Stanmer Park and Estate is an excellent example of the vast open countryside available in Brighton”. It’s no mystery why this park is one of Brighton’s most visited parks.

The area is very pupular with dog walkers thanks to the vast and beautiful areas of woodland and open parkland. There are lots of walks to choose from, including venturing further into the surrounding countryside if you and your dog are feeling adventurous.

The Seafront and Beaches

Brighton Beach

It would be impossible to mention great places to walk in Brighton and not mention the beaches! From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are permitted on these beaches in the area so be sure to check before you and your dog friend make your way there. From 1 October to 30 April, dogs are permitted on all beaches.

If your four-legged friend is a fan of swimming then, provided it’s not too choppy, they’ll love splashing about in the sea. If they’ve not quite got their sea paws yet, there is plenty to enjoy on dry land too - for both you and your dog.

The Devil’s Dyke

The Devil’s Dyke is situated on the South Downs and has some of the most spectacular views of the area. Though just outside of the city, it’s worth the journey for the experience… and your dog will thank you for it, too, on account of the extensive walks available.

According to the National Trust, John Constable described the panorama from Devil’s Dyke as 'the grandest view in the world' - if that’s not enough of a reason to visit then we don’t know what is!

Sheepcote Valley

Located mostly in the South Downs National Park, Sheepcote Valley is almost 220 acres of dog-walking paradise. Vast amounts of space and spectacular views all contribute to making this a walk that your four-legged friend will thank you for!

It is situated just beyond East Brighton Park, so if you’re not feeling as adventurous, you can always go there for a less strenuous walk, but no doubt your dog will drag you to the valley in no time!
