A Doggy Day out at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

18 June 2025

Did you know you can bring a dog to Yorkshire Sculpture Park? YSP welcomes all well-behaved dogs and humans. (They just ask that you keep your dog on a short lead at all times and clean up after them).

The park features 500 acres for walkies and exploring the art onsite - pups are just asked to stay away from Upper Lake and Menagerie wood to protect wildlife.

Where to Chow Down

The Kitchen Cafe has designated indoor dog-friendly seating on the second floor where you can get hot meals, sandwiches, coffee, chilled drinks, and pastries. The cafe at the Learning Centre also welcomes dogs with indoor seating available. They do more sandwiches, coffee cakes, and they also do Scoops ice cream for your pooch! You can eat on the sunny terrace, eat in, or take away. The park also offers designated picnic areas, pawfect for lunch with your pooch!

There are dog water bowls outside the visitor centre, the Weston, the Learning Centre and the Underground Gallery as well as the dog-friendly seating area at the Kitchen Cafe.

The Art

Yorkshire Sculpture Park is best known for its amazing outdoor sculptures, and they have a fantastic roster at the moment, including Daniel Arsham, who likes to play with familiar objects and images to create distorted realities. His Relics in the Landscape collection often uses eroded bronze due to his interest in archaeology and the passage of time.

Other highlights include Jonathan Borowski's Molecule Man, a selection of Damien Hirst’s work and Elisabeth Frink's classic abstract statues. Finally, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore are absolute must-sees at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Your Visit

Parking is free at YSP, and you can also get there via the 96 bus or train (taxis available from Wakefield West Gate train station). The park is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 till 6, with galleries open 10 till 4. If you are on a budget, you can visit for £3.50 after 3pm to make the most of the summer sunshine. Pre-booking online is advised except for the 3pm tickets.

Tickets start from £9.50 standard and £7 for concessions, 18 and under can visit for free, as do essential companions.
