A Dog Friendly Day Out at Beningbrough Hall

2 May 2025

Beningbrough Hall is a stunning National Trust country house, set in the North Yorkshire Dales. This Grade I listed Georgian Mansion is surrounded by stunning parkland and boasts wonderful amenities for family visits. The internationally acclaimed garden designer Andy Sturgeon has created a Mediterranean style ‘garden for all seasons’ design that will be slowly introduced to enhance aspects of the landscape at Beningbrough.

And best of all - you can bring your best furry friend!

Fun Doggy Activities

Beningbrough Hall is a three pawprint rated place, meaning it's a wonderful place for a doggy day out. Your furry friends are welcome in most areas, including designated tables at the rear of the restaurant and in the shop. The brew house and walled garden restaurant both offer dog friendly spaces, indoor and outdoor. The parkland paths are perfect for a stroll, and with 8 acres of formal gardens and 380 acres of parkland, there's plenty of space for your dog to run around. Plus, you'll find handy poo bins and water bowls available. And after all that exercise, you can treat yourself to a lovely afternoon tea!

Family Friendly Things to Do

Beningbrough Hall is a family friendly attraction. They offer baby changing facilities by the shop and the main car park is 50 yards from the entrance. While you cannot take prams or pushchairs into the Hall, they offer indoor alternatives, hip seats and baby slings instead. During the school holidays, the Brew House is open every day from 11am-3pm. Set right next to the play park, it serves up scoop ice cream and refreshments.

Look out for family events during half term!

Doggy Walks

Beningbrough Hall offers some lovely walking trails. The River and Woodland Walk is a 3.9 mile circular route over mostly flat footpaths. Pups are very welcome on the walk, but they ask you to stay on the paths to avoid grazing cattle.

The Woodland Larch walk is dog friendly and ideal for families, at just a mile long. It’s a nice flat route, mostly covered in chipped bark. It encompasses mediaeval era pike ponds, carpets of bluebells and stunning woodland. The Newton walk is an accessible, dog friendly 1.9m trail that should take about 45 minutes. Just follow the pink waymarks! You can extend your walk by checking out the quaint village of Newton-On-Ouse.

Features:
