Our Process: Paw by Paw
BorrowMyDoggy’s aim is to leave pawprints of happiness on the lives of dogs and people. We would love for as many people as possible to meet up and find some new furry friends , so below we’ve written a quick outline of what you can expect once you have signed up :)
1. The Pawfect Profile
It is important that you have a pawsome profile to increase your chances of getting a match. If your profile (or your doggy’s) is fully up to date with accurate details on your availability and contains a smiley photo, then you will be much more likely to have a successful match! You can check out our top tips for a pawfect profile here.
2. Matchmaking
The system works slightly differently for borrowers and owners. As an owner, you will be able to have a sniff around of all the potential borrowers in your local area. Once you have completed the verification process which checks your address, phone number and your pooches photo, you can message as many potential borrowers as you want until you are ready for the first meeting, the “Welcome Woof.’
As a borrower, you can search the profiles of all your local dogs and favourite the ones that you absowoofly love :) Once you are fully verified you can reply to messages from owners and their doggies.

3. Reaching a paw out
Getting to know each other is super important. You can message back and forth as much as you want and you should only arrange to meet up for the first meeting, the Welcome Woof, once everyone is happy to do so. Messaging each other through the site will allow you both to find out a bit more about each other and see whether you think you would be a good match! If you think you’re a pawfect match, then its time for a Welcome Woof.
4. The Welcome Woof
The Welcome Woof is a great opportunity for borrowers, owners and dogs to get to know each other. We suggest you meet up for the first time in a public place, and you can have as many meetings as you want before the doggy is borrowed. We also recommend that you visit each others houses, and this is especially important if the doggy is going to be staying with the borrowers whilst their owner is away on holiday.
5. Spreading Pawprints of Happiness!
What’s next? There are many different ways to borrowing a doggy, based on the arrangement the owners and borrowers have with each other. This can be anything from casual walkies, to regular pooch time and a happy holidays.
That’s it! You’ve completed the process, we hope you will find some lovely new matches, whether for a furry new friend who is looking for extra walks and ear ruffles, or for people looking for other local dog lovers to take care of their dog. Let the tail-wagging fun begin!
