We broke a doggy world record! #DoggyXmasJumperDay

On Sunday 10th December 2017, BorrowMyDoggy and Save The Children teamed up to break a world record for the most amount of dogs in festive jumpers in aid of Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.

We teamed up with the charity to organise the most ‘pawsome’ event of the year.

Amazingly we saw more than 300 dogs don their festive knits to break the world record for most dogs in Christmas jumpers. From Maltese terriers in Nordic knits to Shikokus in Santa outfits, the event saw hundreds of dogs brave the snow and come out in force to break the world record, in what turned out to be a very wintry and festive setting.

The world record attempt took place at Pear Tree Café in Battersea Park, London, and saw dog owners, dog borrowers, children, families, pups and pooches wear their most wonderful woollies to help the charity campaign which makes the world better with a sweater.

Not only did the event bark its way into a world record, it also raised funds for Save the Children’s vital work. By signing up, wearing a festive knit (or maybe a bandana if your pooch doesn't like a jumper) and donating to Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day in December, you’ll help the world’s forgotten children have a brighter future.

Helena Wiltshire at Save the Children, says: “A huge thank you to every dog and owner who helped us break the world record for most dogs in Christmas jumpers. We are so grateful to BorrowMyDoggy and all the adorable pooches who wore their festive knits today to support Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.”

Rikke Rosenlund, Founder and CEO of BorrowMyDoggy, says: “We were thrilled to see that so many members of our lovely community came out to break the world record and support Save the Children. As a company, our aim is to add happiness to the lives of dogs and people. By gathering hundreds of furry friends in festive jumpers and enjoying time together, we hope our community (both 2- and 4- legged) had a pawsome day, while supporting a wonderful charity.”

“BorrowMyDoggy was partially born out of a hope to give children who aren't able to have dogs a chance to spend time with them. Helping children is of central importance to us. Save the Children was an obvious partner and a charity which we support fully.”

Helen Booth, from London, attended the event with her dog Leo who she borrows through BorrowMyDoggy, and said: “Come rain or snow we wouldn’t have missed the chance to see hundreds of dogs come together in Christmas jumpers to support Save the Children. We’ve had an amazing afternoon – Leo really enjoyed himself and we’re so chuffed that we helped break the world record! I take part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day every year so today’s BorrowMyDoggy event was the perfect opportunity for Leo to join in the festive fun too.”

We can’t thank everyone enough (including the beautiful dogs) who came along to show off their festive knits, help us support Save the Children and break the world record! Keep sharing your photos using the hashtag #DoggyXmasJumperDay
